Sold under the brand name Miochol-E, Acetylcholine is a prescription drug used as a parasympathomimetic preparation for intraocular use (i.e. within/through the eye). It is typically used to constrict the pupil of the eye by mediating nerve impulse transmission during cataract surgery and other types of eye surgery. Bear in mind that Acetylcholine may cause hallucinations, confusion, agitation, overactive reflexes, shivering, twitching of muscles and rapid heart rate. Besides, it can cause a change in eyesight, eye pain, or very bad eye irritation. It is, however, still unknown whether this drug can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or if it can affect reproductive capacity. Therefore, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant before using Acetylcholine. After all, you will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this drug while you are pregnant.
